NUKE
Nuké was founded in 2004 when Onur Pehlivan a.k.a DJ XXXL met Sonay Akçen.
At the beginning the group started with cover songs. After a period of song choices and
rehearsals, the project came to life.

In the summer months of the same year, the group made live R&B and HipHop performances at Bodrum Halikarnas
and Hadigari. Nuké also performed as the openning act in the Kid Rock concert held in Halikarnas.

At Hadigari, the group made live performances during the set of DJ XXXL (15 mins. Each). In this period of covers,
Sezen Aksu made a big surprise by inviting XXXL and Sonay to the stage in her Bodrum concert.
The group also accompanied Kenan Doğulu in his Fuga concert. After that active summer season, Nuké decided
to follow a different way after their return to İstanbul.

Nuké was the first to apply the idea of combining HipHop and R&B with ethnical Turkish melodies.
With the sinnergy that was created by Sonay’s conservatory education and XXXL’s DJ hood experience, the group
stepped up to the next stage of production. The group covered Sezen Aksu’s first “Debut” called “Kaybolan Yıllar” and
Teoman’s “Kupa Kızı Maça Valesi” in HipHop form.

After those covers, Sonay started to produce new songs by adding up her own compositions.
XXXL handed the production business to Sonay and focused on the DJ’n and management of the band..

Nuké assimilates variety in the repertoire and has an overground and commercial line rather than underground.
In adaptations, Nuké uses anonymous Turkish melodies such as “Cokertme” from Aegean and “Misket” from the
Anatolia besides using today’s Standard HipHop and R&B techniques that we’re used to hearing on MTV.

Nuké continued its cover repertoire by adding up the group’s own songs. The group performed in Kilyos Burç Beach
Ritmix Creafest, Unimayfest Converse Party, Taksim SOHO “Balans Ve Manevra” Movie Premiere After Party,
Taksim Balans and Levent FANCY.
